Woodmen of the World Scholarship 

Amount:   $1000. 

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a graduating senior, have an overall
GPA of at least 2.8, and complete this application by submitting to our
scholarship committee an essay on the topic:  “What Fraternalism means to me”.

The deadline for submission is Tuesday, April 21, 2015.  The essay must be received
by this date to be considered for the scholarship of $ 1,000 (one per school).

Athens Technical College – High School Merit Scholarship

The High School Merit Scholarship is offered by Athens Technical College to
graduating seniors that plan to come to Athens Tech for their post-secondary
education. This merit-based scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating
student enrolling in ATC from an eligible high school which is any public high
school within Athens Technical College’s ten county service area. Students must
have a GPA of 3.0 in order to apply, and the maximum award is $1,000 over two
terms ($500 per semester).  Apply online at

EC Republican  Party Scholarship

Amount:  $500.00

Guidelines for Scholarship:

1. Grade Point Average (GPA) -  3.0
Intended  college major listed and explanation for choosing that major

Community Bankers Association – Julian & Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship

Open to GA high school seniors who will be entering a Georgia university, college,
or technical institute in the fall semester of 2015. Awards are based on academic
merit, not financial need. Scholarship amount is $1,000. Please see Mrs. Almond in
B-1 for an application. Application deadline is April 3, 2015


The David Skinner/Georgia Development Authority 2015 Scholarship

Award: Scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded annually to students enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field.


·         The applicant must be a high school senior or not beyond the freshman year in college.

·         The applicant must have successfully passed their high school academic requirements and have college entrance exam scores qualifying their admission to an accredited Georgia College.

·         Applicant must be a Georgia resident and live in a rural county.

·         Applicant must be pursuing a degree directly related to agriculture.

1st Annual Underage Drinking Awareness Scholarship


Millar & Mixon, LLC is proud to present our 1st Annual Underage Drinking Awareness Scholarship. The first prize is $2,000, the second prize is $1000, and there will be an honorary mention prize of $500.

Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship

The Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association awards scholarships annually in the amount of $1500, $1000, and $750 to high school seniors through an essay writing contest. The link for information and details is:    http://www.georgiafiresprinkler.org/events/essay-contest/

Scholarships for Health-related Fields of Study 

There are three scholarship applications available in Mrs. Almond’s office, Mrs. Burton’s office or in Elbert Memorial Hospital’s Gift Shop for students pursuing a health related educational program at an accredited college, university, or health related technical school. 

  1.  March 20th Deadline:  EMH Auxiliary Scholarship. Mail to address included on application.
  2. **Feb 15th  Deadline. Elizabeth Wilmot Bull Memorial Scholarship.  Return application and necessary forms to the EMH Gift Shop. A personal interview with the sponsoring Auxiliary’s President is required. *See page 4, item #6  of application to make sure you give ample time for submission of your application.
  3. June 10th Deadline: Barbara K. Tumperi Scholarship. Mail to address included on scholarship application

State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship

The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship does not require a high GPA,
but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities
and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must meet the
following criteria: Be a 2015 graduating high school senior; High school
seniors must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale;
Plan to enroll full-time for the 2015-16 academic year at an accredited
2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school; Must be a
U.S. citizen.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

The following candidates are encourage to apply:  High school seniors
and current undergraduates; U.S. military veterans and their
dependents; Those who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college
or university in 2015-2016; Those who plan to major in a field
focused on engineering, technology, design or business, with an
interest in the automotive industry.

2015 Walter Harrison Scholarship

The applicant must be a child of a Hart EMC member and the scholarship can be used at any two-year or four-year accredited college, university, or vocational school in Georgia. Applications are available in the guidance office (B-1).

Scholarship deadline is January 30, 2015


2015 Hart EMC Foundation Scholarship

Scholarship applicant must be a child of a Hart EMC member and a permanent resident of the Hart EMC service area. Applications are available in the guidance office (B-1).

Scholarship deadline is February 6, 2015



Georgia Military Scholarships


The State of Georgia offers forty-two scholarships per year to Georgia high school
seniors who attend the University of North Georgia and commission as officers in the
Georgia Army National Guard after graduating with bachelor’s degrees. The scholarship
pays for your room, meals, tuition, books, uniforms, and fees.You will also receive
National Guard weekend drill pay, GI Bill, pay for attending Army basic and advanced
training, and Army ROTC contract pay (starting beginning of sophomore year). You may
also be eligible for an enlistment bonus and monthly GI Bill kicker.
Effective 15
August 2005, GMS Scholarship recipients are non-deployable as long as
they are enrolled and remain in good standing with the University of
North Georgia and the Georgia Army National Guard.


  1. Be a resident of Georgia.
  2. Receive a nomination from a state assemblyman.
  3. Meet the academic requirements for, and gain regular admission, to UNG.
  4. Meet Army National Guard medical and physical standards.
  5. Agree to serve as an enlisted member in the Georgia Army National Guard
  6. while a Cadet at UNG. Agree to accept a commission upon graduation from
  7. UNG and serve four years as a commissioned officer in the Georgia Army
  8. National Guard.

Burger King Scholars Program

The Burger King Scholars Program wants to help students gain access to a higher education. 

Students eligible to earn a scholarship and be BURGER KING Scholars are:  High school seniors,

BURGER KING employees, their dependent children, spouses or domestic partners living in the

U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada. High school seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0

scale and plan to enroll full-time for the 2015-16 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year school.

The primary mission of the Watson-Brown Foundation is providing need and merit-based scholarships
to select Georgia and South Carolina students attending accredited four-year colleges and universities
in the United States. The scholarships are renewable in amounts of $3000 and $5000.

Foundation for Individual Rights in Education
(FIRE) Free Speech Essay Contest

High school seniors for the 2014–2015 school year who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
are eligible to participate. Students must submit an essay between 800 and 1,000 words on the
following topic: Why is free speech important at our nation’s colleges and universities?  One
$10,000 first prize, one $5,000 second prize, and three $1,000 runner-up prizes will be awarded for
the best essays. Four $500 winners will be chosen from the remaining entrants in a drawing.

Every year the AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report
awards $670,000 in scholarships to outstanding young people across the nation.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is the largest
undergraduate scholarship in the country. The scholarship provides as many as
40 high-achieving students with up to $40,000 per year for four years to attend
the nation's best colleges and universities.

Criteria for applying: Must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above, SAT
combined math and critical reading score of 1200 or above and/or ACT composite
score of 26 or above, and must demonstrate significant unmet financial need (likely
Pell Grant eligible)

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation 

Coca-Cola Scholars Scholarship – High school seniors with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
may apply online in August of their senior year until the October 31 deadline. 150 Coca-Cola
Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

SunTrust Scholarship Sweepstakes 

For the tenth consecutive year SunTrust is pleased to offer the Off To College
Scholarship Sweepstakes where students can win a $500 scholarship for education

Horatio Alger Scholarship 

Applicants must: Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States, 
exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited
non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies
at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution), demonstrate critical
financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required), be involved in
co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in
overcoming adversity, maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, and be
a United States citizen.
