Another Tuesday brought another guest speaker into the "Intro to Law and Public Safety" Class at ECCHS. This week, students in the class heard from Mr. Darren Driver, Fire Fighter 1 / EMR with the City of Elberton Fire Department and the Elbert County Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Driver is also an Alumni of ECCHS, graduating in 2007. Upon High School graduation, Mr. Driver attended college at ABAC in Tifton and Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs. He became a VolunteerFire Fighter in 2010 and a member of the City Fire Department a year later.

Mr. Driver not only explained the requirements to become a fire fighter, he also shared many pictures of real emergencies and training sessions that he has taken part of. He also brought with him a County Fire Engine and showed the students the equipment that it carries. Students also got to 'try out' some of the equipment to get a better idea of what a fire fighter does.

The students and instructor of the Intro to Law and Public Safety class would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Mr. Driver & the County and City Fire Departments for their involvement in this class as well as the school system.
