Members of Elbert County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Athens Tech EMS Education Program spoke to combined classes at ECCHS on 4-28-15.  Chuck Almond, Elbert County EMS Director, Beth Seymour, Elbert County Paramedic and Crystal Shelnutt of Athens Tech EMS Education spoke to Mrs. Leanne Roberts Intro to Healthcare class and Mr. Michael Bilow's Intro to Public Safety class.

The three guest speakers explained to students about career opportunities in the field of Emergency Medical Services, the education and training required for work in the field and other aspects of their jobs.  It was stressed that working in the EMS field is extremely rewarding, yet it is also not for everybody.  Students were invited to contact Elbert County EMS individually if they would be interested in taking part in a ride along to get a feel for what a professional EMS sees on a regular basis.

Both Elbert County EMS and the Athens Tech EMS Education program brought ambulances for the students to explore and learn about what goes on in the back.  The Athens Tech Education Ambulance even had a simulator patient that students in their program use to be trained on in practically any situation.

Both Mrs. Roberts and Mr. Bilow and their respective students would like to sincerely Thank all the guest speakers for taking time to come to the school to talk to the students!
