On March 26, 2015, two members of Elbert County Emergency Medical Services came to our class and presented a program on First Aid. This is currently the subject that we are studying.  Kyle Ford, EMT-A, and Cindy Smith, EMT-P, from EMS shared some basic First Aid procedures with the students such as assessing the patient for signs and symptoms of different illnesses requiring emergency medical attention.  The students were also able to see some of the equipment that is used by EMS and First Responders to treat a patient in a health crisis to stabilize them until they can be transported to a healthcare facility.  To conclude the program, the students were given a look inside of an ambulance and the opportunity to see some of the more advanced equipment used by EMS.

This was a very exciting day for our students and we greatly appreciate all of the help from our friends at Elbert County EMS for taking the time from their busy schedule to come to our class.  They have also agreed to help us in a few weeks when we learn how to take vital signs.
